West Church ,Sinclair Street, Thurso was originally designed and built in 1859 by architect and builder-David Smith, at the reputed cost of £2000. The land it was built on was donated by Sir J G Tollemache Sinclair and it was called the West Free Church of Thurso. In 1929 it became part of the Church of Scotland. The Spire measures 110 ft. and it was built to seat 900 worshippers. A recent substantial legacy from a deceased member of the congregation has enabled the church to undergo a complete refurbishment both internally and externally.
