ID: PHO000681_01          Collection: Alan McIvor

Location: 58.594416    -3.524557          Era: Late 20th century

A winter view from the rooftop of St Peter's & St Andrew's Church Looking West from the rooftop we can see the garden known as Lady Thurso gardens. This was what they called a bleaching green in the early 19th Century where the local residents would take their white washing to dry and hopefully whiten some more in the sun!! The road on the left is West Church Street and the one to the right is East Church Street with Rose Street running horizontally. In the centre and slightly left (blue door) was the Rose Street Bakery which was a great favourite with the locals.
