This picture possibly taken from Viewfirth showing the large houses in the town with views across the bay to Dunnet Head on the horizon. Far right single storey house is in Castle St, next to left is top of George St (as it still was in the 50's) top house is Pentland Villa, next Struie, where the Manson family lived, then Barogill, next ??(owned by Macadie, grain merchant, and finally the row of single storey houses behind the West Public school next behind is Granville St, with the only house being that recently owned by Tommy Souter behind that the square house with tower which backs on to Granville St; and another further up still there. The photos taken from top of St. Peters church show these houses also. Taken from the top of what was known as "Sanner's park" which had cattle and sheep in it. In the 1950s the corner of the park was the bungalows in Duncan St and Davidsons Lane.
